Anthropology

Anthropology seeks to uncover the commonalities between cultures, and an understanding of the behaviors in historical communities. Anthropologists seek to understand how the evolutionary history of humankind has led us to where we are now. Their area of expertise falls into 4 categories:

  • Biological Anthropology seeks to understand the evolution of diet and human health.
  • Cultural Anthropology is the study of cultural elements of human life.
  • Linguistic Anthropology is the study of historical human language .
  • Archeology is the multi-faceted study of human history and culture through artifacts and other physical remains.

Many Anthropologists work to preserve cultural, and historical sites, and to ensure compliance
with state and federal Cultural Resource Management (CRM) protocols, and antiquities laws.
